While researching the new poll for your favorite album of 2010, I ran across this gem. This is an epic set of 8 songs that mash up Big Boi and the Black Keys. The quality of this set is reminiscent of DJ Danger Mouse’s Grey Album, which mashed up Jay-Z and the Beatles.
This set, which uses vocals from Big Boi’s “Sir Lucious Left Foot – The Son of Chico Dusty” was released by an unknown DJ named “Wick-It”. I don’t know about ya’ll, but I listened to Big Boi’s CD so much when it came out I can’t listen to it much anymore, I played it out… But this mash-up sounds fresh. It revitalizes the CD. 50 Cent has been one of the top rappers out there. During the past few years, I’m not quite sure what happened to him, but I remember 2003ish when “Get Rich or Die Trying” came out… That album was everywhere. I just downloaded it after not having listened to it for years, and it still bangs. It sounds a little dated now, but the album is an example of a rapper on top of his game. I was hoping I read this wrong. “Snoop Doggy Dog… Fail?”? That’s just not possible. Snoop can do AOL commercials and still come out smelling like roses. But his latest round of product endorsements is making me scratch my head.

Perhaps a figure to give a serious product, anti-virus software that could save your data and identity, some clout, rather than Snoop Dogg? Now, please don’t misunderstand me. Snoop is a great pitchman; he has made himself a household name over the past twenty years and has accomplished it without selling out. He is a moving target in today’s rap landscape. But for Norton’s marketing department to move forward with the idea of him pitching anti-virus software is ludacris to me.
